Choose Yourself by James Altucher - Book Review

Besides acting totally silly on stage, I also love to read. I recently purchased James Altucher's book "Choose Yourself". I would highly recommend buying his book.

This book will help you get in a positive mindset, generate ideas to start your own business, and also give you ideas on how to make your business successful.

Job security is non existent these days. The best way to be financially successful is to start your own business. I thought of this; why work for somebody else, when there are an infinite number of possibilities to make money. Actually, it's not infinite, the number of ways you make make money with your own business is 9,239,295,101,400,123,056,675,009. I've counted them. :>

If you're in a job you don't like, or are going through tough times right now, purchasing and reading this book may be the the thing for you to do to start turning things around to make your life more positive. It did for me. Last month, I lost my job in I had for over two years. Although it's not been easy, I have made some positive changes to my life since that happened. Reading this book helped me get in a positive mindset and helped me start taking action toward my goals. This past month I got involved with some writing groups, wrote a screenplay, and am excercising regularly now. I lost almost 10 pounds these past few weeks due to playing volleyball, playing tennis and hiking. Also, I now have some great ideas for books I want to write, which I am going to implement soon.

If you've ever wanted to write your own book, there's detailed instructions on how to self-publish your own book for little or no cost. That alone is worth the purchase price. However, if you're still not convinced, the author will actually pay you back the money you spent on the book if you prove to him that you read it! He is not wanting to get rich from this book, he just wants to spread his message. You can read more his offer here.

All of the advice James Altucher gives comes from personal experience. He's made millions then lost it all several times, went through a really horrible divorce, and has been through a living hell. Yet he still managed to work though it and bring this gem to us. His fascinating story and other people's stories in the book are very inspirational.

The book is available in paperback or Kindle.

How to get material for jokes

In one of my previous posts A Totally Effective Way to Write Jokes, I let you know that a great way to come up with jokes is to go through bad experiences and then write about them. This a great way to come up with material. However, I know you don't want to be miserable for years and years just so you can do an hour of funny for your HBO special. That's a really lousy trade off. So in this article, I will cover another method to do this.

An awesome way to get new jokes is to have new experiences, travel, and try new things. So join a new Meetup group, take a road trip, try a new sport, learn a new language, or just do something interesting you've never done before. Not only will this help you come up with new material, it will make you a more well rounded and interesting individual.

Last month, that is exactly what I have been doing. In May, I took a hike in the Grand Canyon at Havasupai, took a road trip to San Diego, went on dates, and have done a whole bunch of other fun stuff as well. So, I will share with you a couple of new jokes I have come up with as a result.

Everyone knows American Indians like to consume alcohol. On the Havasupai Indian Reservation, they don't allow alcohol there. I think that's kind of weird. That's like having Chinatown without any cats or dogs.

While I was outside standing in line to get in the Marilyn Manson concert, there was a guy there yelling out Bible verses at the crowd. He apparently was trying to get converts. That's like a hot dog vendor trying to get business at a vegan potluck.
