Call Center Job Challenges

I have worked many call center jobs since moving to the Phoenix area 14 years ago. I have noticed there are many similarities in my previous positions.

Almost all of the companies I have worked for require you to have as short of an average handle time as possible. Yet, if a customer is rude to you or rambles, you are not allowed to hang up on them.

This is very challenging for any call center worker. So I decided to put one call center to the test to see how agents there handle difficult customers and see if they could still keep their calls brief while being polite. How do you think this customer service representative did?

Job Interview Jokes

Call centers are known for having a high turnover rate. Yet a recruiter at a call center denied me employment because I have too many short term jobs. That's weird. That's like a pimp not hiring a hooker for being too promiscuous.

I had a job interview at one of those "buy here, pay here" automotive dealerships. When the recruiter asked me "Why should I hire you?" I told her "You can count on me to be at work on time every day! I don't drive one of your vehicles that break down."

Choose Yourself by James Altucher - Book Review

Besides acting totally silly on stage, I also love to read. I recently purchased James Altucher's book "Choose Yourself". I would highly recommend buying his book.

This book will help you get in a positive mindset, generate ideas to start your own business, and also give you ideas on how to make your business successful.

Job security is non existent these days. The best way to be financially successful is to start your own business. I thought of this; why work for somebody else, when there are an infinite number of possibilities to make money. Actually, it's not infinite, the number of ways you make make money with your own business is 9,239,295,101,400,123,056,675,009. I've counted them. :>

If you're in a job you don't like, or are going through tough times right now, purchasing and reading this book may be the the thing for you to do to start turning things around to make your life more positive. It did for me. Last month, I lost my job in I had for over two years. Although it's not been easy, I have made some positive changes to my life since that happened. Reading this book helped me get in a positive mindset and helped me start taking action toward my goals. This past month I got involved with some writing groups, wrote a screenplay, and am excercising regularly now. I lost almost 10 pounds these past few weeks due to playing volleyball, playing tennis and hiking. Also, I now have some great ideas for books I want to write, which I am going to implement soon.

If you've ever wanted to write your own book, there's detailed instructions on how to self-publish your own book for little or no cost. That alone is worth the purchase price. However, if you're still not convinced, the author will actually pay you back the money you spent on the book if you prove to him that you read it! He is not wanting to get rich from this book, he just wants to spread his message. You can read more his offer here.

All of the advice James Altucher gives comes from personal experience. He's made millions then lost it all several times, went through a really horrible divorce, and has been through a living hell. Yet he still managed to work though it and bring this gem to us. His fascinating story and other people's stories in the book are very inspirational.

The book is available in paperback or Kindle.

Paperback Version

Kindle Edition

The best way to start living the life of your dreams is to take action. So take action and purchase this book today!

How to get material for jokes

In one of my previous posts A Totally Effective Way to Write Jokes, I let you know that a great way to come up with jokes is to go through bad experiences and then write about them. This a great way to come up with material. However, I know you don't want to be miserable for years and years just so you can do an hour of funny for your HBO special. That's a really lousy trade off. So in this article, I will cover another method to do this.

An awesome way to get new jokes is to have new experiences, travel, and try new things. So join a new Meetup group, take a road trip, try a new sport, learn a new language, or just do something interesting you've never done before. Not only will this help you come up with new material, it will make you a more well rounded and interesting individual.

Last month, that is exactly what I have been doing. In May, I took a hike in the Grand Canyon at Havasupai, took a road trip to San Diego, went on dates, and have done a whole bunch of other fun stuff as well. So, I will share with you a couple of new jokes I have come up with as a result.

Everyone knows American Indians like to consume alcohol. On the Havasupai Indian Reservation, they don't allow alcohol there. I think that's kind of weird. That's like having Chinatown without any cats or dogs.

While I was outside standing in line to get in the Marilyn Manson concert, there was a guy there yelling out Bible verses at the crowd. He apparently was trying to get converts. That's like a hot dog vendor trying to get business at a vegan potluck.

Why you should try stand up comedy

If you are wanting to try stand up comedy, there are many great reasons why you should give it a go. This is based on my own experience.

1. It's a great way to make new friends

Some of my best friends now are stand up comedians. In addition to that, I have met comics who have been on television, musicians, artists, and many other interesting people I would have never known about had I never tried stand up.

2. It will boost your confidence

People will respect you because you have the guts to do something most people are too scared to try. You don't have to jump out of an airplane, ride a big motorbike, or fight in a stupid war to do accomplish this.

3. It will make you sexier

Want to talk to that cute stranger you see at Starbucks? Start a conversation with them, and tell them you're a comedian. I've been on quite a few dates thanks to this, and even been in relationships with females that started with them watching my comedy. If you do take this approach, don't do rape and dead baby jokes during your set.

How to Attract Your Ideal Mate

If you are currently single, list all of the traits you want from your next boyfriend or girlfriend. For example:

I want my next girlfriend to be athletic, be financially stable, and have a great sense of humor.

Then take action to improve these traits in yourself.

For example, if you're a guy who loves athletic women, but you're 50 pounds overweight, and your routine consists watching TV for hours every day, and getting drunk all the time, the probability is very high that you are not going to find athletic women attracted to you. If you love athletic women like I do, get physically active yourself!

So, let's take those list of traits I listed earlier. These by the way, are traits I look for in a woman. The list is definitely not all inclusive, but I wanted to keep it simple for the purpose of this article. Take your list of traits, and list action steps you can take or are currently taking to improve yourself in this area. I am actually going to do this exercise so you get the idea. Here we go:

Athletic:

I currently hike, play volleyball, play tennis, and bicycle regularly. I work out a minimum of three times each week.

Financially Stable:

I have a day job, but I am working toward becoming financially independent. I have other income streams that I am actively working on growing. Very soon, I expect that I will earn all of my income from my comedy, writing, this website, and other businesses that I build.

Sense of humor:

I am a stand up comedian, and I am always looking to improve my act to make it funnier. I also constantly am working on focusing on the present moment, which helps with spontaneous humor.

Doing this exercise yourself and following through with it will help you meet your next amazing boyfriend or girlfriend.

All right, so now that I've tried this exercise, now you try it! Work from this list here first:

I want my new siginificant other to be smart, be able to carry on an interesting conversation, and give great blow jobs.

Is God Black?

I think God is black. I believe this because over 2000 years ago, God got a woman pregnant. To this date, nobody has seen Him!

A Totally Effective Way to Write Jokes

Some of the best jokes out there come from a bad experience the writer had. So, if something painful happened to you, write some jokes about it! Here's one I wrote recently:

The post office lost a package of mine. So I called their customer service department. I said "You guys are a bunch of lazy slackers, and aren't accountable for anything! Are you hiring?"

Indeed some of the best humor comes from people going through periods of grief. Therefore, I'm giving my boss a ton of new material this week.

The Importance of Nonverbal Communication

We communicate much more than simply the words we speak. In fact, a study done at UCLA discovered that 93 percent of communication is done nonverbally.

So what is nonverbal communication? Nonverbal communication is your body language and the energy that you are putting out to the world.

I totally believe that nonverbal communication trumps verbal communication. Here is a short story which will prove this:

A few years ago, I met a beautiful woman at a bar in Tempe Arizona. After making some small talk, we started making out, and she ended up taking me home. How did I accomplish this? I'll  save all the juicy details for another time, however I will tell you I did say something to her right before we started kissing. At the end of the post I will reveal the magic words! :>

Lots of guys look for the magical pick up line, or want to know what to say to get a woman to sleep with them. I can tell you this; how a woman reacts to you is NOT dependent on what you say to them. The vibe that you put out determines how she reacts to you.

Getting back to my story; As I stated earlier, right before I kissed the woman at the Tempe bar, I said something to her. You want the magical pick up line guys? This is what I said:

"Let me sample the goods!"

Was it it my verbal or nonverbal communication that got me laid? You be the judge.

49ers fan stabs Atlanta Falcons fan outside Georgia Dome after playoff loss

Today, after the NFC Championship game, a 49ers fan and an Atlanta Falcons fan got into a fight outside the Georgia Dome. The 49ers fan ended up pulling out a knife and stabbed the Falcons fan in the neck. You can read the news article here:

Falcons Fan stabbed in neck by 49ers fan outside Georgia Dome after loss

I mean, come on! Is a football game really worth getting into a fight over? No way! It's really not worth throwing punches, much less pulling out a knife and injuring somebody over something like that. It's too bad that some people are so stupid.

And it's also too bad the NFC Championship game wasn't being held in San Francisco today. Then it would have just been a pillow fight!

How to Have a Successful Entertainment Business

To build a successful business, you should have both passive and active income streams coming in. What is active income? Active income is simply trading your time for money. More than likely, you are doing this right now. When you have a job and you go to work for eight hours, and you get paid an hourly rate or salary, this is active income. If you do comedy or you are in a band, when you go to a gig that actually pays you, this is also active income.

Passive income on the other hand, does not depend on you being at a certain place or putting in a set amount of time to earn money. The actors that make all the films you wish you were in earn passive income every time somebody goes to the movies or buys a DVD. Authors earn passive income every time somebody buys a book.

If you want to earn money the smart way, start some passive income streams. My website actually earns passive income from Google Adsense. You can earn passive income this way as well. Here are some other ways you can earn passive income:

1. DVDs/CDs
2. Ebooks
3. Affiliate Programs

In the upcoming months, I am going to start other passive income streams using these methods. My next project is going to be an Ebook on how to attract women. It's going to be full of awesome information you can't get anywhere else. Stay tuned!

How to Get Tons of People to See Your Show

A challenge many of us in the performing arts have is getting people to come see our shows. Believe me, I have had plenty of instances where I tell dozens of people about a comedy show, some of them tell me they are definitely going, and then NOBODY shows up. It's really disappointing.

Over a year ago, I posted an article titled "2 Great Ways to Get Lots of People to Your Comedy Shows". One of the ways I suggested is to join Meetup.com, join meetups that interest you, and then tell other people in the group about it.

Recently, I joined a singles group, and went to a couple of their activities. I saw a good movie with them, and then later that week I took salsa dance lessons with the group. I told the others that I do stand up comedy. The organizer of the group asked me when my next show was, and I told him. He was gracious enough to put my show information in one of the next singles meetups. Lo and behold, lots of people from the meetup showed up, and the venue was packed!!!

So if you have a show where you need to have an audience, go out and make some new friends!
