How to NOT Become Financially Independent

If you want to read good material on how to start your own business and become your own boss, there are plenty of good blogs that will teach you how to get started. Steve Pavlina, The Middle Finger Project, and The Art of Non-Conformity all have great articles and e-books that will give you great information on how to become financially independent.

All three of the authors of these blogs know what they are talking about. One's a published author, the other two travel the world while they run their online businesses.

I am not financially independent. So I am not an authority on blogging about becoming financially independent. However, I definitely am an authority on how to NOT become financially independent. I also know plenty of other people who work dead end jobs and who are clueless about running a successful business. So I am the perfect person to write this blog.

Although I am not as established as the three bloggers I mentioned earlier, I still believe in myself, and I believe I can contribute to your success. So if you want to quit your job and be your own boss, here's what NOT to do:

1. Spend a lot of time watching TV, going to bars, and doing other non-productive stuff.

You're at your job for 40 hours a week. Until you're able to quit your job permanently, your time is EXTREMELY limited. Cut back on the drinking a bit, and save some of your celebrating for when you actually accomplish something. Most of the people getting drunk and doing drugs are doing it to mask the pain of their awful jobs. Don't be like them.

2. Complain about your job and life situation A LOT!!!

Complaining actually strengthens the undesirable situation that you find yourself in. In almost all corporate jobs, you hear a LOT of complaining! When you hear people say stuff like "I never have enough money", or "I can't get a boyfriend/girlfriend", or "I hate my job", you can be assured they are going to stay in their unhappy situation for a long time. This is how the Law of Attraction works: you attract what you think about even if the situation totally sucks. If you don't like your job, or anything else in your life, stop your bitching, and make an exit plan. How would you feel if you were financially independent? Think of the positive feelings you would have, and use that to motivate you.

3. Spend a lot of money on your business before it becomes profitable.

This is just dumb dumb dumb!!! Spending too much money on advertising, products that you have never sold before, and anything else is a great way to kill your business before it even gets off the ground. However, even if your business fails by overspending, you could still do something positive. You can write a great article like "How to NOT have enough money to pay rent!"
