How to Cure Depression

Are you feeling down? Lots of people are due to this economy. Not being able to find a job and/or not having enough money certainly causes major stress for the majority of us.

If you're down, don't take antidepressants. There's a better solution. Do what I do - prank call the toll free numbers to the infomercials that come on late at night. Last week I called one of those hair replacement companies. Unfortunately, the customer service representative did not share my sense of humor. She said "Sir, if you're not being serious, I'm going to have to disconnect the call!" LOL! I almost DID convince her I was serious until a male friend started yelling in a gay voice "Don't order that, you look good just the way you are!"

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Soon, I am going to record some of these calls you can hear them yourself. In the meantime, another infomercial spoof is now the Comedy Video of the Week. Enjoy!

Scam Alert: Jeff Paul's Shortcut to Internet Millions

Like many of us, I sometimes see some of those infomercials that broadcast on television. One that I saw recently disturbed me. It was called "Jeff Paul's Shortcut to Internet Millions".

The infomercial tells you that if you buy his program for $39.95 plus shipping, you can get rich from people buying products from a website he gives you. They say it's as easy as "sending an email".

Before sending him your hard earned money, do a search on the Better Business Bureau website and type in "Jeff Paul". Also, just do a Google search on "Jeff Paul's Shortcut to Internet Millions", and you will see how many dissatisfied customers he has.

From reading these complaints and my research, I can tell you pretty much what would happen if you purchase Jeff Paul's "system". His $39.95 system will get you his useless materials plus membership to his program for only 30 days. After you receive his materials, you will get bombarded with calls from his company wanting to upsell you. They will request you spend thousands of dollars with them.

Save your money. If you truly want to have a successful work from home business, it's going to take a lot of hard work. You will have to learn how to attract visitors to your website, and learn how to sell products that people want to buy. Instead of purchasing Jeff Paul's program, spend that $39.95 on books on how to design websites. You will get a lot better value for your money.

I am the Home-Based Business Examiner for Phoenix, so I felt it was my duty to report this scammer. I will have an article on my Examiner page with more details on this Internet scam very soon. In the meantime, enjoy my "Comedy Video of the Week". It's an infomercial spoof. Enjoy!

5 Ways to Help Your Comedy Career

So you want to make stand up comedy a career? I have been doing stand up comedy for five years. From my experience, I have learned a lot. Here are some steps you can take to take your career to the next level.

1. Buy Your Own Domain Name

Almost every comedian I know has a MySpace and Facebook account. Almost none of them have their own website. If you want to stand out from the competition, having your own website will definitely help. Potential clients will take you more seriously and know you mean business.

2. Purchase Quality Business Cards

Stay away from the "free" business cards you get from VistaPrint. They are cheap, but I can assure you: in this situation, you get what you pay for. Spend some extra money and get quality business cards that are glossy and are printed on both sides. Use Adobe Photoshop to create your design. If you are artistic, create some killer graphics. If not, a simple design with your photograph and contact information is sufficient. If you want these type of business cards at a great price, email me at and I can find a supplier for you.

3. Get a Professional Headshot

Most professional comedy clubs and acting jobs require you to submit a professional 8X10 black and white headshot for you to be considered for work. Have a photographer or business knowledgeable in this take your pictures. Once your photograph has been produced, you can get reprints done for a reasonable price. I recommend using ABC Pictures for reprints.

4. Make Your Website Worth Visiting

Most comedians that do have websites only have demo videos of their stand up comedy. You can do better than that. Write a blog that is entertaining and helpful to your fellow comedians and others. Post information about upcoming comedy shows in your area. Become knowledgeable in designing websites and search engine optimization.

5. Video Production

Keep your videos under two minutes if possible. People's attention spans are generally short, and you don't want to lose them. At the end of your video, have your website listed to draw traffic to your site.

As I said, people's attention spans are short, so I am going to wrap this up for today. I want this blog to continue to be an excellent resource for everybody. What topics interest you? What other questions do you want answered?

How to Make Fun of Someone

Last year, I posted a video on YouTube of my performance at a club called Hurricane Bay in Phoenix. I was doing my regular stand up comedy routine when a heckler decided to insult me. He got more than what he bargained for. Here is the video:

In my opinion, a heckler insulting an experienced comedian on stage is like an average guy challenging a mixed martial artist in the UFC to a fight. Doing either of these things is very foolish, and in both instances the challenger is going to get clobbered.

Recently, my video is getting some negative feedback from some other YouTube users. They started to post insults about me. Just for fun, I decided insult them back. You can check out the conversation here:

Two out of the three people as of right now had nothing to say back to me. One guy with a handle of "iRULEYAY" did respond. He had nothing original or clever to say. He resorted to cheap shots such as saying I was middle aged and bald. It's a shame he is not smart enough to come up with something funny. I feel sorry for him. He is only 17, and based on his sense of humor, I would say he's going to grow up to be like Michael Richards. When Michael Richards was challenged by a heckler, he resorted to yelling unfunny racial slurs. We all know how his career is going now.

Whether you are a comedian, or just someone trying to have fun picking on your friends, insulting someone just to be mean is not funny or intelligent. Be smarter than your opponent. If you insult someone cleverly, your "victim" will be laughing his ass off too.

Comedians regularly have roasts. I have been fortunate enough to participate in a few of these events. All of the participants are friends, but during a roast, we get to make fun of each other as much as we want. During my roast, this was what Dietrick Shelton had to say about me:

"What's the difference between me and John Griggs? I'm not saying 'Get off my girlfriend Dietrick!'"

I still laugh when I think about him saying this. I am going to end this post with a video of another intelligent comedian ripping his opponent to shreds. His name is "Hair Jordan". This is from an episode of MTV's "Yo Momma". This is going to be the "Comedy Video of the Week". Watch and learn.

How to Stop Harrassment from Debt Collectors

If you are getting constant calls from a collection agency demanding money, there is a few easy ways you can stop the calls. One way is to write the collection agency and tell them to stop calling you. They have to comply per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It is advisable to send your correspondence certified, return receipt requested. This way you have a record that you sent the letter to them. If they continue to call after they receive your letter, you can sue them in court.

Here is another way you can stop the collection calls. It is unorthodox, but it actually does work! Unlike the previous method listed, it will not cost you anything! Check out this video for instructions on how to proceed:
